The Australian Year of the Farmer celebrates the hard work of everyone involved in producing, processing, handling and selling products from 136,000 farms across the country. Australian farms and the industries that support them generate more than $405 billion each year. That's27% of our GDP!

It is about celebrating and enriching the connections between rural and urban Australia. We want you to take time out of your busy day to think about how farming affects your life. There's more to this agribusiness than meets the eye.

An Education Program will bring farming to the classroom in a fun and interactive way

A Careers Campaign will showcase the diverse and exciting careers in farming and related industries

Innovation and Technology Expo will showcase why Australian agriculture is the most innovative in the world.

Australian farmers literally grow our future and will play a key role in sustaining our way of life as well as helping provide global food security.

Current projections show that farming production worldwide will need to double in the next 40 years. This means that there are currently numerous career opportunities in farming or agriculture related businesses available for you!

Our philosophy is to highlight all these exciting careers and encourage young people to explore their career options in this field.

Your career in farming or a related business could be in almost any field you can imagine – from marketing, sales, science, biotechnology, engineering, agronomy, IT to actually working on a farm or even running your own farm. But it doesn't stop there, mechanics, shopkeepers, doctors, dentists, teachers and tradespeople all play a vital role in supporting our farmers.

Throughout 2012 Australian Year of the Farmer will host exciting competitions!

Competitions will vary in size, but will have one thing in common – they will celebrate the contribution farmers make to sustain our way of life, communities and economy.

Our semi trailer and 4 Wheel Drives with trailers are specially designed to entertain and educate both rural and urban Australians, with interactive displays, a wealth of material and truckloads of fun activities for all ages.

The Australian Year of the Farmer Roadshow will attend 300 event days across all States and Territories, appearing at numerous Agricultural Field Days, Concerts, Local Agricultural Shows, Royal Shows, Rodeos, Festivals and other popular public events.
